Rivers State Governor recognizes new Opobo monarch

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has formally presented the Certificate of Recognition and Staff of Office to the new Amanyanabo of Opobo Kingdom, His Majesty King Charles Douglas Mac-Pepple Jaja, Jeki VI. During the ceremony at Government House in Port Harcourt, the governor called on the new monarch to foster peace, unity, and inclusiveness within the kingdom.

Fubara noted that the transition follows a period of instability, mentioning that the late King Dandeson Douglas Jaja’s stool had been subject to legal disputes lasting over 27 years. The governor stated that his administration intervened to manage the selection process and prevent further litigation. He also addressed his absence from the initial coronation on September 26, citing national service obligations, while emphasizing that his government provided full logistical support throughout the process.
