Rivers State Governor welcomes new Army Brigade in Ahoada
Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has welcomed the Federal Government’s approval to establish a new Army Brigade in the Ahoada axis. The decision aims to strengthen security operations, improve response times, and curb criminal activities in the region.
During a meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt, the new Commander of the 6 Division Garrison, Major General Ismaila Sule, briefed the governor on state security developments. Governor Fubara expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the Chief of Army Staff for the approval, noting that the new formation will complement existing structures like the Nigerian Army’s 6 Division.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the military in protecting critical national assets, including oil and gas infrastructure. He emphasized that the partnership between the state government and security agencies is vital for regional peace, social stability, and economic development.
