Rivers State Police arrest man for allegedly killing father with machete

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a man in his 20s, identified as Seth, for allegedly killing his father with a machete in the Pipeline area of Rumukwurushi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

The incident occurred while the suspect’s mother, a teacher, was at work. Upon returning home, she discovered the residence in disarray. Although she initially believed her husband was sleeping, neighbors and authorities determined he had sustained fatal injuries, including a severe wound to the neck. After the suspect locked himself in a room with the deceased, police and vigilante members forced entry, where they reportedly found the man with bloodstains on his hands. He has since admitted to the killing.

Local reports suggest the deceased had previously confronted his son regarding his consumption of a hard liquor known as ‘Ice’. Police are currently investigating the specific motives and circumstances surrounding the attack.
