Rivers State police disrupt suspected assassination attempt in Bori

Police in Rivers State, Nigeria, disrupted a suspected targeted assassination attempt during a routine patrol in the Khana Local Government Area. The incident took place on Tuesday, 15 September 2026, near Kaani in Bori.

Following the encounter, the suspects fled the scene, abandoning an AK-47 rifle loaded with two rounds of live ammunition. Authorities have not yet identified the intended target, the motive behind the attempt, or the identity of the suspects. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Port Harcourt for further investigation.
