Rivers State sports infrastructure boosted by Wike’s projects

Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Boma Iyaye, has credited Governor Nyesom Wike’s infrastructure projects for enhancing the state’s capacity for sports development. Iyaye noted that ongoing road construction and land reclamation projects are positioning Rivers State to host both national and international competitions, including marathons, cycling, beach soccer, and volleyball.

According to Iyaye, the improved road networks and the establishment of the Real Madrid Football Academy are key components of a broader strategy to harness talent and create wealth through sports. He emphasized that the state's infrastructure facilitates the movement of officials and athletes, which is a critical requirement for awarding hosting rights to cities.
