Rivers United earn 1-1 draw against FC San Pedro in CAF Champions League

Rivers United secured a 1-1 draw against Côte d’Ivoire’s FC San Pedro in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round tie at Laurent Pokou Stadium. After Issouf Dosso gave the hosts the lead in the second half, substitute Iyowuna Douglas scored the equalizer in the 69th minute to earn the Nigerian side a valuable away result.

Following the match, club administrator Christopher Green awarded the players a $2,000 cash reward to recognize their commitment and determination. This marks the second such incentive provided by Green this season.

Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George expressed confidence ahead of the return leg, noting that avoiding defeat in Côte d’Ivoire was a primary objective. The decisive second leg is scheduled to take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Nigeria.
