Rivers United seeks fan support for CAF Champions League tie

Rivers United has called on football fans in Akwa Ibom State to support the team during their CAF Champions League first-round tie against San Pedro of Côte d’Ivoire. The second leg match is scheduled for Sunday, September 13, 2026, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Following a 1-1 draw in the first leg held in Côte d’Ivoire, club officials, including Sole Administrator Christopher Green and General Manager Okey Kpaloku, met with Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, to confirm the stadium will serve as the club's home for continental matches. To boost attendance, the club announced it will give away 50 replica jerseys to the first 50 fans to arrive at the stadium.
