Riverside County approves $32.7 million deal for deputy body cameras
The Riverside County Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved a $32.69 million contract with Axon Enterprise Inc. to provide upgraded body-worn cameras for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
The agreement authorizes the procurement of 2,086 current-generation Axon Body 4 cameras, along with technical support, storage, and related services through August 31, 2031. Funding for the initiative will be drawn from the sheriff’s appropriations rather than the county’s General Fund.
Undersheriff Don Sharp noted that the upgraded technology is intended to improve accountability, assist in investigations, and support use-of-force documentation. The department has utilized Axon technology since 2021.
