Riverside County courts to see reduced activity Monday
Riverside County courts will experience significant inactivity this Monday due to the Columbus Day federal holiday. While not an official state holiday, most of the county’s collective bargaining units recognize the day as a holiday, resulting in a lack of essential personnel.
Courtroom scheduling, particularly for criminal matters, is expected to be heavily impacted because the District Attorney’s Office, Public Defender’s Office, and Sheriff’s Office personnel—who provide necessary legal representation and courtroom security—will be unavailable. While the court remains open for business, judicial officers may instead use the time for administrative tasks such as reviewing cases and managing pending matters. Normal proceedings are expected to resume on Tuesday.
