Riverside County deputies shoot individual during mental health crisis response
Riverside County sheriff’s deputies shot an individual in Moreno Valley while responding to a mental health crisis. The incident occurred around 4:10 p.m. Friday in the 11000 block of Villa Hermosa.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were aided by a clinical therapist from the Community Behavioral Assessment Team. Upon arrival, an individual left a residence and aimed a firearm at the deputies, prompting them to open fire. The individual was treated by paramedics and transported to a local hospital in critical condition. No deputies were injured. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Force Investigation Detail is conducting an investigation, and the involved deputies have been placed on paid administrative leave.
