Riverside: Two boys injured in e-scooter collision
Two 14-year-old boys sustained major injuries after being struck by a vehicle at an intersection in Riverside, California. The collision occurred near the intersection of Arlington Avenue and Mitchell Avenue shortly before 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
According to the Riverside Police Department, the boys were using an e-scooter and an e-moto when they were hit by a Lexus sedan driven by an 88-year-old man. Authorities noted that neither the e-scooter nor the e-moto is legal for underage riders to operate on municipal rights-of-way under California law.
The victims were transported to a local hospital with extensive injuries that are not currently believed to be life-threatening. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators; no arrests have been made, and it is currently unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident. The investigation remains ongoing.
