Riverti Automobili debuts BMW M2-based 3.0 CSL tribute prototype
Riverti Automobili has debuted a heavily camouflaged prototype of its BMW M2-based tribute car at the Tutto Bene Hillclimb in Italy. The project, described by the company as “Not ‘resto.’ Retro,” involves a full rebody rather than a simple styling package.
The design draws heavy inspiration from the 1970s BMW 3.0 CSL and the BMW 2002 Turbo. Key aesthetic changes include four round headlights, a smaller kidney grille, redesigned air intakes, a custom hood, and wide fenders. The vehicle also features a prominent double rear aerodynamic element reminiscent of the original CSL.
While the prototype is built on the current G87 BMW M2 chassis, specific details regarding engine tuning, transmission, weight, and price have not been disclosed. The car is expected to retain the M2’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine. Production numbers and an official release date remain unknown.
