Riverview Police Department enters temporary furlough amid financial restructuring

The Riverview Police Department is undergoing a temporary suspension of operations rather than a permanent dissolution, according to Interim Police Chief Brandin Neil. The department is currently furloughing employees as city officials work to restructure the municipality’s finances.

This clarification follows conflicting reports regarding the agency's status. While St. Louis County Executive Sam Page previously characterized the department as being disbanded, Chief Neil stated that the move is a temporary measure tied to financial decisions intended to benefit the city. During this period of interrupted municipal operations, St. Louis County Police will handle emergency calls for the Riverview area.
