Rivian CFO Claire McDonough to resign and join GE Vernova
Rivian Automotive has announced that Chief Financial Officer Claire McDonough will step down from her position on October 30, 2026. McDonough, who joined the electric vehicle manufacturer in early 2021, is leaving to pursue a new opportunity and relocate to the U.S. East Coast. Her departure follows her leadership during Rivian’s $13.7 billion initial public offering and the establishment of a major technology joint venture with Volkswagen Group.
McDonough has been tapped to become the new CFO of GE Vernova. She is expected to join the energy equipment company in November 2026, serving as a strategic advisor before officially assuming the CFO role on January 1, 2027. She will succeed Kenneth Parks, who plans to retire in April 2027.
Rivian has initiated a search for a permanent successor and has named Vice President of Finance Derek Mulvey as interim CFO effective upon McDonough’s departure. The leadership change occurs as Rivian scales production for its R2 SUV. Following the announcement, Rivian shares experienced a decline in trading.
