Rivian expands vehicle recall to over 31,000 electric SUVs and pickups

Rivian Automotive has expanded a vehicle recall to include a total of 31,711 R1S and R1T electric vehicles due to faulty turn signal lamps. The expanded recall adds nearly 4,000 vehicles to a previous campaign, now affecting both 2025 and 2026 model years.

The issue stems from a supplier, Myotek, failing to properly quarantine parts that did not meet specifications. This resulted in vehicles being manufactured with front turn signal lamps that may fail to illuminate or flash, potentially violating federal standards. Rivian noted that drivers will receive a message on their display if a failure occurs.

To resolve the defect, Rivian will inspect and replace the front turn signal lamps at service centers, a process expected to take less than an hour. The recall includes approximately 26,000 R1S SUVs and 5,700 R1T pickups.

Despite these setbacks and a 22% decline in stock value year-to-date, Rivian reported a revenue increase of 27% year-over-year in its last quarter. The company is currently focusing on the production of its upcoming R2 battery-electric SUV, which it expects to be a significant profit driver.
