Rivian unveils refreshed 2027 R1S and R1T electric vehicles

Rivian has unveiled refreshed versions of its 2027 R1S and R1T electric vehicle lineup. A major update for the R1S SUV is the introduction of a six-seat configuration featuring second-row captain’s chairs, a feature requested by customers to allow easier access to the third row via a center pass-through.

The automaker is also simplifying its trim structure to align the R1 series with the upcoming R2 model. Instead of naming trims based on motor counts (Dual, Tri, and Quad), the lineup will now use three curated tiers: Premium, Performance, and the Quad halo trim. Additionally, Rivian is introducing a new exterior color, Esker Silver, to replace LA Silver.
