Poland sees rising berry and Gessler jagodzianka prices amid packaging scams

Consumers and producers in Poland report notable price increases for seasonal berries and for Magda Gessler's signature jagodzianka. sellers of wild‑berry jams and fresh berries often label 800 ml jars as a full litre, inflating effective prices by up to 20 % and varying widely by region—from about 17 zł per litre in Silesia to over 50 zł in West Pomerania. Meanwhile, Gessler's jagodzianka price climbed from 34 zł to 38 zł, a roughly 12 % rise, prompting criticism from fitness influencer Mariola Bojarska‑Ferenc, who called the cost excessive. Analysts note that fruit growers bear year‑round expenses—labor, fuel, fertilizers, weather risks—and that consumers only see the final price tag, not these underlying costs. The latest season also saw the jagodzianka price up 4 zł from the previous year, continuing a long‑term upward trend (31 zł in 2024, 23 zł a few years earlier).
