Rivne commemorates 25 years of Symon Petlura monument
The city of Rivne marks the 25th anniversary of the unveiling of the monument to Symon Petlura. Petlura, a leader of the Ukrainian People's Republic, is recognized as a symbol of the Ukrainian struggle for independence and statehood.
The monument serves as a site of historical remembrance and a symbol of the cooperation between the Ukrainian independence movement and the Second Polish Republic. Local social groups, including scouts and members of PLAST, maintain the site through commemorative ceremonies.
Historical memory surrounding Petlura has also served as a bridge for Polish-Ukrainian dialogue. Past commemorations have included participation from the University of Warsaw and the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland, aiming to foster mutual respect and strengthen bilateral relations through shared historical heritage.
