Riyadh Air launches nonstop service to Madrid and signs MoU with Air Europa

Riyadh Air inaugurated its first nonstop flight between Riyadh and Madrid on Friday, operating flight RX0531 to Adolfo Suárez Madrid‑Barajas Airport. The launch was marked by a reception attended by Riyadh Air CEO Tony Douglas and Atlético de Madrid CEO Miguel Ángel Gil Marín, reflecting the airline’s sponsorship of the club.

At the same ceremony the carrier signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with Spanish airline Air Europa. The agreement will enable interline connectivity, potential code‑share arrangements and reciprocal loyalty programmes, linking Air Europa’s network across Spain, Southern Europe and Latin America with Riyadh Air’s routes. The new Madrid service complements the seasonal Riyadh‑Málaga flights running through early September.

Riyadh Air, owned by the Public Investment Fund, is expanding its fleet of Boeing 787‑9 Dreamliners and plans to operate over 100 global destinations by 2030, targeting around $20 billion of contribution to Saudi Arabia’s non‑oil economy and the creation of 200,000 jobs as part of Vision 2030.
