Riyadh hosts high-level diplomatic visits from Syria and Iraq
High-level diplomatic activity is increasing in Riyadh as regional leaders engage in bilateral discussions. The Syrian Foreign Minister arrived in Riyadh to discuss bilateral relations and regional and international issues, marking a continuation of the diplomatic momentum following Syria's return to the Arab League.
In a separate diplomatic move, Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi arrived in Riyadh for his first official visit since assuming office in May. The visit is part of a Gulf tour aimed at addressing shared security and economic files. This follows a period of tension regarding security incidents, including drone attacks on Saudi infrastructure and subsequent military strikes targeting militia logistics in Iraq. Al-Zaidi has emphasized the necessity of preventing Iraqi territory from being used to threaten neighboring countries.
