Riyadh Royal Commission launches new Taif Road bridge project

The Royal Commission for Riyadh City announced a new construction package for the Taif Road corridor. The plan includes a 311‑metre long, 36‑metre wide bridge at the intersection with Taiba Street, linking Taif Road with Najd Street to the west and the Western Ring Road to the east. The works aim to raise the corridor’s capacity to about 200,000 vehicles per day by providing four main lanes in each direction over a 15‑kilometre stretch.

A temporary traffic diversion with three lanes per direction will be implemented at the Taif‑Taiba intersection starting 31 July 2026, coordinated with digital traffic‑management systems that will deliver real‑time updates and guide drivers to alternate routes. The project is part of the broader Main and Ring Roads Programme, which targets the development and upgrade of more than 500 km of the kingdom’s road network.
