Riyadh security concerns rise for Greek expats following drone attacks

Greek expatriates living in Riyadh are reporting increased anxiety following a series of drone and missile attacks in the Saudi Arabian capital. The situation has escalated following a deadly attack on King Khalid International Airport on Saturday, October 10.

Residents describe being woken almost every night by the sound of interceptions. In response to the security threats, many institutions have adjusted their operations; schools have moved to remote learning and several companies in the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) have implemented teleworking policies.

The affected Greek couple expressed frustration regarding a perceived lack of communication and guidance from the Greek embassy, noting they have not received specific emergency instructions or contact details for assistance. While the city attempts to maintain its normal rhythm, many residents are limiting movement and expressing fear regarding travel through the airport.
