Houthi rebels in Yemen launched a series of missile and drone attacks targeting Saudi Arabia on Saturday, September 19, 2026. The attacks included ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones aimed at sensitive sites in the capital, Riyadh, and Saudi Aramco oil facilities in the coastal city of Yanbu.

Saudi-led coalition forces reported that air defenses successfully intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile directed at Riyadh. However, explosions were heard across the capital, and thick black smoke was observed near King Khalid International Airport. Reports indicated that a fuel tank belonging to Saudi Aramco near the airport caught fire, with firefighters working to contain the flames. The strikes caused significant disruptions to flight operations, including delays and cancellations.

The coalition also stated that Houthi forces attempted to target civilian infrastructure and populations in Bisha, Taif, Farasan, and Yanbu, though these attempts were reportedly thwarted. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree claimed the operations were a response to Saudi military actions in Yemen.

The United Nations Security Council condemned the escalation, warning that such attacks risk expanding the conflict and threatening international maritime security and trade. The attacks occur amid a broader regional escalation and Houthi advances along the Red Sea coast.
