Riyadh’s ‘Davos in the Desert’ forum postponed due to Houthi attacks
The ‘Davos in the Desert’ forum, organized by the Future Investment Initiative (FII), has been postponed due to repeated attacks by Houthi rebels. The event, which brings together major global financial leaders, was originally scheduled to take place in Riyadh from October 26 to 29.
Organizers have not yet announced a new date for the summit. While previous discussions suggested a hybrid format involving remote participation or alternative transport methods to mitigate risks, these plans were abandoned following continuous alerts regarding potential aerial attacks and increased travel warnings from Western nations.
The postponement is viewed as a setback for Saudi Arabia’s ‘Vision 2030’ economic transformation program, as the kingdom faces growing security implications from the escalating conflict involving the Houthis and Iran.
