Rize herbalist develops skin care cream using anchovy oil
Mehmet Karali, a local herbalist in Rize, Turkey, has developed a skin care cream using anchovy oil. The project is the result of approximately five years of research and development using distillation techniques to extract oil from the regional staple fish.
According to Karali, the production process is highly intensive, requiring between 2 to 3 kilograms of anchovies to produce roughly 20 grams of pure oil. The resulting cream is enriched with other natural oils and is designed to renew the skin barrier, provide moisture, and cleanse the skin.
The product is currently undergoing testing and commercial preparation. Karali expressed intentions to expand his cosmetic line to include other marine-based products, such as trout oil cream, following the successful formulation of the anchovy-based product.
