Rizki Juniansyah to miss 2026 Asian Games following CAS ruling

Indonesian weightlifter Rizki Juniansyah will be unable to compete in the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected an appeal by the Indonesian Weightlifting Association (PABSI) and the National Olympic Committee of Indonesia (KOI).

The suspension was imposed by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) regarding an alleged violation of whereabouts requirements, which mandate that athletes provide location information for out-of-competition doping tests.

PABSI and KOI clarified in a joint statement that the suspension is a procedural measure and does not constitute a finding of an anti-doping rule violation. They emphasized that the case does not involve prohibited substances and that Rizki has never tested positive for banned substances. The investigation into the core merits of the case is set to begin, and the athlete intends to defend himself through the CAS process.
