RJ Mitte, Breaking Bad actor, dies by suicide at 34

Actor RJ Mitte, known for portraying Walter White Jr. on the AMC series ‘Breaking Bad’, died by suicide on October 12 at his home in Brownsville, Texas. He was 34 years old.

His sister, Lacianne Carriere, shared an emotional tribute on Instagram, describing Mitte as a figure who was both a brother and a father figure to her. She noted that Mitte had assumed caregiving responsibilities for her from a young age after their mother, Dyna Mitte, suffered an accident that left her paralyzed.

Co-star Bryan Cranston expressed his shock at the news, noting that he and Mitte had been attempting to coordinate schedules to meet up in the weeks prior to his death. Cranston used the occasion to encourage those struggling with depression to seek professional help.

Mitte, who was born with cerebral palsy, was a prominent advocate for disability representation in Hollywood. In 2013, he received the SAG-AFTRA Harold Russell Award for his contributions and served as president of the Mitte Foundation, a Texas-based nonprofit organization.
