RJD candidate selection for Bihar MLC seats sparks internal criticism

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has announced candidates for six seats in the upcoming Bihar Legislative Council elections, covering both Teacher and Graduate constituencies. The nominees include Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Singh for the Patna Teacher constituency, Professor Jairam Yadav for Saran Teacher, Dilip Kumar for Patna Graduate, Nitesh Kumar for Koshi Graduate, Anil Kumar Jha for Darbhanga Graduate, and Dr. Rashmi Vinayak Gautam for Tirhut Teacher. Two seats remain unannounced.

The selection process has sparked internal criticism from Rohini Acharya, daughter of party chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. Acharya expressed displeasure on social media, alleging that the party is prioritizing “opportunistic faces” who joined shortly before the elections over long-standing leaders and grassroots workers who have demonstrated ideological commitment and endured political struggles. She argued that sidelining dedicated cadres undermines internal democracy and the party’s core principles.
