RJD to march to Patna Raj Bhavan over Siwan police action
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has announced a march to the Raj Bhavan in Patna on August 19 to protest police action against students in Siwan. The demonstration, led by RJD National Working President Tejashwi Yadav, follows allegations of lathi-charges and the use of firearms, including AK-47 rifles, during protests regarding examination irregularities and paper leaks.
Tejashwi Yadav has criticized the state government for failing to hold senior officials accountable, noting that while a lower-ranking constable was suspended, higher-level responsibility remains unaddressed. Yadav has demanded an impartial investigation into who authorized the use of force and has called for the Chief Minister to apologize to the injured students.
In addition to the police action, the RJD has raised concerns regarding unpaid salaries for Sanskrit, Urdu, and Persian teachers, as well as outstanding dues for sanitation workers and pensioners. Yadav stated that the party would continue to seek accountability from the Home Department and senior officials.
