RJM Tax Exemption launches new sales tax engine

RJM Tax Exemption has launched a new sales tax calculation engine designed to provide a lower-cost alternative to established industry providers such as Avalara and TaxJar. The tool aims to automate sales tax calculations across various United States state and local jurisdictions and is built to integrate with multiple e-commerce platforms and custom websites.

In addition to automated software, RJM provides access to tax professionals for assistance with complex compliance issues, including nexus determinations and resale certificate management. To encourage adoption, the company is offering the first month of sales tax filing free for businesses switching to its service.

Meanwhile, the sales tax automation market features diverse approaches. TaxJar, backed by Stripe, offers an end-to-end solution covering over 11,000 jurisdictions with a focus on automated filing and remittance. In contrast, newer entrants like Kintsugi utilize an AI-first approach specifically targeting growth-stage SaaS and e-commerce companies through automated exposure monitoring and product classification.
