RM of BTS debuts as curator at SFMOMA and donates to National Museum of Korea

RM, the leader of the K-pop group BTS, is expanding his involvement in the art world through both curation and philanthropy. He will debut as a co-curator for a special exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) titled ‘RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me’. Running from October 3, 2026, to February 7, 2027, the exhibition will feature approximately 180 works, including 140 pieces from RM’s personal collection. The display combines modern and contemporary Korean art with works from the SFMOMA collection, such as pieces by Mark Rothko and Kim Whanki.

RM actively participated in the exhibition’s development, working with co-curators América Castillo and Hyoeun Kim to select works, write exhibition texts in both English and Korean, and record audio guides. He also curated the musical atmosphere for the galleries.

In addition to his curatorial debut, RM has donated 100 million won (approximately $72,000 USD) to the National Museum of Korea Foundation. The donation is intended to support the acquisition of new artifacts for the museum's collection. RM, who serves as a global ambassador for the National Museum of Korea, stated his desire to continue promoting Korean culture and heritage.
