Rímac mayor requests 10 million soles for earthquake prevention

Néstor de la Rosa, the mayor of Rímac, has announced plans to request between 5 and 10 million soles from the Executive branch to fund earthquake prevention works. The request follows concerns regarding the high vulnerability of local housing due to aging structures and the use of materials such as adobe, quincha, and carrizo.

According to the mayor, approximately 4,700 properties in the district are in uninhabitable condition, potentially affecting between 30,000 and 40,000 residents. De la Rosa emphasized that a significant seismic event could cause widespread structural collapses if preventative measures are not implemented.
