RömerWelt and Limes Information Center inaugurated in Neuwied
The expanded RömerWelt and the Limes Information Center have been officially inaugurated in the Neuwied district, Germany. The project, designed by architect Silke Pesau, aims to provide an interactive experience of Roman history and culture rather than traditional museum displays.
During the inauguration, District Administrator Achim Hallerbach and Minister President Gordon Schnieder highlighted the site's importance as a tourist attraction and a cultural landmark. Schnieder noted that the Limes, originally a border wall, now serves as a point of connection through history, archaeology, and culture, specifically at the intersection of two sections of the UNESCO World Heritage site.
Related archaeological interest in the region continues through organized activities, such as guided hikes in the Eifel region. These tours explore Roman traces, including the Agrippa road, ancient water pipelines, and the settlement of Marcomagus, connecting the historical legacy of the Roman era to modern regional tourism.
