RMS Titanic historical legacy and cultural impact

The RMS Titanic remains a subject of significant historical and cultural interest more than 110 years after its sinking in the North Atlantic. The vessel was one of three Olympic-class ships built by the White Star Line, including its sister ships, the RMS Olympic and the HMHS Britannic, none of which survived the 20th century intact.

Constructed at the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the ship's production employed approximately 15,000 workers at its peak. The vessel's legacy continues through various media, including James Cameron’s cinematic portrayal and modern digital simulations that attempt to recreate the immersive experience of the ship and its eventual destruction.

Historical accounts of the disaster often highlight specific details beyond the well-known iceberg collision, such as the role of coal bunkers, the survival of certain animals, and the specific circumstances of various passengers during the emergency.
