Şırnak authorities confiscate over 16 million TL of illegal drugs and smuggled goods

Police and gendarmerie units carried out extensive operations in Şırnak province from 29 June to 5 July, seizing contraband with a market value of roughly 16 million TL. The raids uncovered 2 kg 625 g of skunk, more than 27 000 bandrol‑free cigarettes, 891 electronic cigarettes and liquids, large quantities of hookah tobacco, hardware items and various cosmetics. In total, 73 suspects were detained and legal proceedings were launched against them.

A separate but related operation reported the seizure of an estimated 16 million 250 000 TL worth of illegal items, including one ecstasy tablet, 1.98 g of methamphetamine, 0.39 g of heroin, 0.5 g of synthetic cannabinoid, 5.32 g of cannabis, two bong devices, over 11 000 medicines, more than 10 000 cigarettes, 5 600 e‑cigarette cartridges, 360 e‑cigarettes, 10 mobile phones, 2.1 kg of gold, a copper coin and dozens of cosmetic products. Legal action was initiated against 56 suspects. Both operations were aimed at curbing drug trafficking and customs smuggling in the region.
