Şırnak conducts disaster response drills and sports preparations

In Şırnak, Turkey, authorities are conducting preparations for both emergency response drills and upcoming sporting events.

Under the Turkey Disaster Response Plan (TAMP), the 'Şırnak-2026' exercise was held to test the coordination of 23 institutions, 41 vehicles, and 205 personnel. Led by Governor Birol Ekici and AFAD, the drill included a tabletop scenario regarding extreme heatwaves in the Southeast Anatolia Region and a field exercise simulating a wildfire near a university junction. The exercise tested communication, medical response, and inter-agency cooperation.

Simultaneously, the Şırnak Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports is preparing for the Turkish Mountain Running National Team Selection Finals, scheduled for September 16, 2026, at Namaz Mountain. Deputy Director Nihat Avcı and technical teams have conducted site inspections to ensure course safety and organizational readiness for the athletes.
