RNI leader calls for stronger parliamentary oversight amid political tensions
Mohamed Chaouki, president of the Rassemblement National des Indépendants (RNI), has called on party parliamentarians to improve legislative quality and strengthen the oversight of public policies. During an organizational meeting in Rabat, Chaouki emphasized the need for responsibility and innovative approaches to better serve national interests and meet citizen expectations in the upcoming legislature.
Simultaneously, political tensions between the RNI and the Parti Authenticité et Modernité (PAM) have escalated, impacting local governance. In the Souss-Massa region, a session of the regional council in Taroudant was unable to proceed due to a lack of quorum after representatives from the PAM, Istiqlal, and USFP boycotted the meeting. This breakdown in cooperation marks a significant shift from the previous coalition between the RNI, PAM, and PI, potentially delaying infrastructure projects and affecting local services ahead of the 2027 elections.
