Río Bueno students develop smart bracelet for forestry safety

Four students from the Liceo Técnico Profesional de Río Bueno have developed ‘Brazalete Ecovibe’, a smart bracelet designed to enhance safety in the forestry sector. The project won first place in the ‘Futuro Forestal TP: Creatividad, innovación y sostenibilidad’ competition, an initiative by Corma and Disruptiva Lab funded by Corfo.

The device provides haptic and visual alerts to warn workers of risks without relying on sound, which is critical in high-noise industrial environments. Using sensors installed on machinery, the system detects anomalies and sends a short-range wireless signal to the bracelet. The alerts are communicated through vibrations and colored LED lights to indicate different risk levels.

The prototype features wireless connectivity, an SOS button, a rechargeable battery, and a lightweight design. The technology is intended to be used as either a bracelet or a glove to facilitate ease of use during work shifts.
