Río Gallegos hosts first international congress on false accusations

The first International Congress ‘No to False Accusations’ took place in Río Gallegos on October 23 and 24, 2026. Organized by Dr. Elba Soria, the event brought together legal and forensic experts from Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, and Mexico to examine judicial practices, family conflicts, and university protocols.

Participants debated the importance of the presumption of innocence, due process, and the scientific validity of psychological and forensic techniques used in courts. Discussions also addressed the personal, familial, and professional consequences of unjust accusations. Some attendees questioned the efficacy and cost of state gender policy structures, calling for institutional reviews.

The congress concluded with the formation of an International Commission. It was announced that the next international meeting will be hosted in Peru, following recent changes to gender laws in that country.
