Río Gallegos hosts provincial forums on AI in schools and media

On 10 June, the provincial education council convened the second in‑person meeting of the “Red de Escuelas Secundarias Innovadoras” at the Auditorio del Complejo Cultural in Río Gallegos. Officials, school leaders and teachers from 14 public and private secondary schools discussed how to incorporate artificial intelligence and other digital tools into classroom practice. Provincial secondary education director Norma Gatica emphasized that “La inteligencia artificial y el uso del celular representan hoy un desafío pedagógico; ya no se puede enseñar de la misma manera que antes.”

The municipal government simultaneously organized the second Provincial Communication Forum, titled “¿IA ahora a quién le creemos? Posverdad, Fake News y Manipulación de la Información.” Journalists, students, academics and municipal officials, including mayor Pablo Grasso, debated the ethical and security challenges posed by AI to news production, misinformation and data sovereignty. Panels addressed AI‑generated content, streaming platforms, cyber‑security and the role of media in democracy.
