Río Gallegos launches Patagonian Freestyle Tournament

The Municipality of Río Gallegos has officially launched the “Néstor Agustín Copa” Patagonian Freestyle Tournament. The competition will bring together urban culture exponents from various locations in Patagonia and Chile.

The tournament will feature 1 vs. 1 and 3 vs. 3 modalities, with participants from Santa Cruz, Tierra del Fuego, Chubut, and Chile. The finals are scheduled for December 5 and 6 at the Juan Bautista Rocha Municipal Gymnasium. The winning 3 vs. 3 team will earn a direct spot in the “Viento Sur” event in Ushuaia.

Named in honor of Néstor Agustín Copa, a pioneer of hip hop and hardcore metal in the region, the event included a ceremony where a decree officially naming the tournament was presented to his family. Mayor Pablo Grasso expressed support for youth cultural initiatives and proposed the creation of a National Freestyle Tournament through the Argentine Federation of Municipalities.

Additionally, the city confirmed it will host the “Cuna de Oro” competition in December.
