Río Gallegos man arrested for smuggling drugs in empanadas
A 34-year-old man was arrested in Río Gallegos, Argentina, after attempting to smuggle narcotics into a police station. The man, who was accompanied by his 5-year-old son, tried to deliver food to a relative detained at the Second Precinct.
Upon suspicion, the Santa Cruz Police Narcocriminality Division inspected eleven meat empanadas and discovered nine packets of cocaine and two packets of marijuana hidden inside. Authorities also seized the man's mobile phone.
Due to the presence of the minor, the municipal area of Childhood, Adolescence, and Family intervened, placing the child in the custody of his mother. The Prosecutor's Office has ordered the man to establish a fixed residence and remain available to the justice system as the investigation continues.
