Río Grande ice startup Escarcha Fueguina produces 160 kg daily
The Municipal School of Entrepreneurs in Río Grande, Argentina, helped launch "Escarcha Fueguina," an ice‑production startup founded by Alejandro Alcalipe and Giselle Gutiérrez. Operating at Level 3 of the school’s program, the venture produces about 160 kg of ice each day in 1‑kg and 2‑kg bags, supplying local shops. The founders say the training, planning tools and technical support from the school were essential.
Municipal development director Ornela Antonio highlighted the project as evidence of public policies that enable residents to turn ideas into jobs, especially amid economic uncertainty. The entrepreneurs plan to increase capacity, adopt new technologies and reach more retailers.
