Criminal incidents reported across various Argentine detention facilities

Several criminal incidents involving detainees and former convicts have been reported in Argentina. In Río Grande, inmate David Álvarez, known as ‘El Dientón’, remains in intensive care at the Regional Hospital after a violent assault inside Detention Unit No. 1. The Provincial Penitentiary Service reported that Álvarez sought medical attention due to abdominal pain; he subsequently underwent emergency surgery to remove his spleen. Maximiliano Paulo Perpetto has been identified as the alleged aggressor.

In Neuquén, authorities have charged police officer Francisco Agustín Quiroz with facilitating the escape of four inmates from Detention Unit 12. Prosecutors allege Quiroz accepted bribes to leave a key sector unguarded, allowing prisoners with criminal records—including charges of attempted femicide and robbery—to flee.

In Mar del Plata, Rodolfo Enrique Godoy, an ex-colonel convicted of crimes against humanity, was robbed at his home while under house arrest. Assailants reportedly tied up and beat Godoy and his 89-year-old wife before stealing cash and a GPS device.

Separately, Guillermo Álvarez, a convicted killer known as ‘El Concheto’, was returned to the Villa Devoto prison after a failed transfer to Marcos Paz. The judicial order cited special security requirements and the need for specific isolation protocols to protect his life.
