Río Grande jewelry robbery suspects processed and detained
Two men, Martín Ezequiel Zapico and Sergio Orlando Solís, have been processed and placed in preventive detention following a major robbery at the Valenza jewelry store in Río Grande. The theft, which occurred on September 29, resulted in the loss of gold and silver jewelry valued at approximately 30 million pesos.
Investigators identified the suspects through security camera footage and forensic evidence. Specifically, police recovered two distinct footwear prints at the scene: one matching a shoe previously linked to Zapico and another Adidas print linked to Solís.
Judge Cecilia Cataldo ordered an embargo of more than 35 million pesos against the defendants. While some jewelry was recovered from a vehicle attributed to Zapico, the majority of the stolen items remain missing.
