Río Grande municipality penalizes illegal debris dumping in pedestrian zone
The Municipality of Río Grande intervened after a vehicle entered a bicycle lane in the Costanera sector to illegally dump construction debris in an unauthorized public space. The incident was reported by local residents via the 147 Citizen Attention line.
The responsible party faces traffic and environmental fines in accordance with current regulations. Authorities noted that the situation was particularly hazardous because the vehicle drove through an area reserved exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists, endangering those using the space for recreation and transit.
Local officials reminded the community that Municipal Ordinance No. 2941/11 prohibits dumping waste in public spaces. They emphasized that construction materials must be managed through official municipal channels rather than being placed in domestic waste containers.
