Río Grande municipality provides funds to senior centers

The municipality of Río Grande has distributed 17.6 million pesos in economic aid to eight local senior centers. This initiative is part of the Municipal Program for Institutional Strengthening for the Integral Development of Older Persons. The funds are intended to support daily activities, ensure service continuity, and strengthen community integration and social welfare for the elderly.

Beneficiaries include several organizations, such as the Los Olmos Civil Association, Barrio Las Playas, and the Arturo M. Bas Railway Retirees Center, among others. The distribution ceremony was led by Mayor Eduardo Accastello and other local officials.

Separately, the ‘Papa Francisco’ Municipal Senior Welfare Center has marked its first year of operation, now serving over 500 people weekly. The center provides a wide range of services, including recreational workshops, physical activities like yoga and tango, and comprehensive health services such as gerontological consultations, nutrition, and dentistry. It also offers social support through home visits and assistance with managing resources like medication and food modules.
