Steve Cohen introduces 26 articles of impeachment against Trump

Representative Steve Cohen (D-TN) has introduced 26 articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, the largest number of articles filed against a U.S. President. The resolution alleges abuse of power, undermining democracy, violating oaths of office, and various misconduct regarding immigration, military use, and federal spending.

Democratic lawmakers are divided on whether to pursue a third impeachment if they regain control of the House following the November midterm elections. Representative Ro Khanna argued that such a move would be about “setting a standard” for presidential conduct and defending the Constitution, specifically regarding unauthorized military action and the treatment of federal employees.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries stated that while Democrats are focused on an affordability agenda, they maintain a responsibility to provide oversight and accountability for what he described as “unprecedented corruption.” Conversely, Republican House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan predicted that Democrats would use the legislative branch to “weaponize government” by investigating the President, his family, and senior administration officials.
