Río Negro authorities oversee carbon sampling at Calcatreu mine

Authorities from the Río Negro province, specifically from the Secretariats of Environment and Mining, conducted oversight of activated carbon sampling at the Calcatreu mining site on September 4 and 7. The operation involved the sampling of 16 bags of activated carbon, a critical component used in the process of recovering gold and silver from dissolved solutions.

During the procedure, 500 grams were extracted from each bag and divided into three 120-gram samples. One sample is sent to a laboratory to determine metal content, a second is held by provincial control agencies, and a third is kept by the company for internal records. This process is intended to ensure traceability and provide reference material for analysis.

Governor Alberto Weretilneck stated that the province supports mining development provided it is conducted with clear rules, oversight, and benefits for the local population.
