Infrastructure and weather cause road disruptions in Argentina and Paraguay

Severe weather and infrastructure issues are causing widespread transportation disruptions across parts of Argentina and Paraguay. In the Vaca Muerta region of Neuquén, intense rainfall triggered mudslides and flash floods, notably on Provincial Route 5. The torrents swept away oil industry pickup trucks and rendered key roads impassable, impacting logistics and petroleum operations. Other affected areas in Neuquén include Route 20, which suffers from extreme deterioration, and Route 40.

In Misiones, Argentina, rising water levels in the Paranay and Piray Guazú streams have forced the preventive closure of bridges on National Route 12. Meanwhile, in Chubut, while roads remain open, authorities have warned of hazards including fog, wind, and potholes. In Río Negro, the provincial government is demanding urgent repairs from the national government for Routes 22 and 151 following heavy rains.

In Paraguay, a structural collapse of a bridge in the Yhú district of Caaguazú has isolated rural communities, halting both vehicular and agricultural transport. Local residents have requested urgent intervention from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications to address the sinkhole and restore connectivity.
